Root canal treatment also known as endodontic treatment is a dental procedure to save your tooth that has been damaged by decay, infection or abscess, or injury which otherwise would require an extraction.
Infections can occur due to:
Tooth decay
Dental trauma
A broken filling or crown
Severe wear
Severe gum disease
Our dentist will use a specialized drill along with dental drill pieces called files to reach into the canal of your tooth. He removes the inflamed or infected pulp; refills the canal with special fillings to prevent any bacteria from re-entering the canal.
Once the root canal therapy is finished we will recommend placing a dental crown over the tooth to assist in protecting the tooth in the longer term.
Root canal treatment is usually preferable to extraction because natural teeth will always function better than any artificial teeth can. They are much stronger and more efficient at biting and chewing than artificial teeth.
If you would like any more information about root canal treatment or just want to talk to a dentist about this procedure, please call us today or reserve your appointment online.
At Bright Dental in Ventura, we offer dental implants as a long-lasting, natural-looking solution for missing teeth. Whether you're replacing a single tooth or seeking a more secure option for dentures, implants can transform your smile and improve your quality of life.
Dental implants are small, medical-grade titanium posts placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once healed, a crown or denture is attached, giving you a strong, natural-looking replacement. Most patients say they can’t even tell which teeth are implants.
Look and feel like real teeth
Preserve bone at the site of tooth loss
Don’t require support from neighboring teeth
Easy to clean and maintain
Long-lasting – often 15+ years with proper care
The cost of implants varies depending on your specific needs. In general:
Without insurance: Implants are similar in cost to a dental bridge
With insurance: Many plans now cover a portion of implant treatment—sometimes up to 80%
Long-term value: Implants often save money over time by avoiding the need for replacements
Our team at Bright Dental will provide a personalized estimate and help maximize your insurance benefits.
Tired of loose or uncomfortable dentures? We offer implant-supported dentures, also known as overdentures, for a more secure and comfortable fit. Benefits include:
Greater stability — no slipping while eating or speaking
Less irritation and fewer sore spots
Improved ability to chew and enjoy your favorite foods
Reduced size of upper denture — no more gagging or taste loss
Implant-supported dentures are a fantastic option for patients transitioning into dentures or those looking to improve the fit of existing ones.
Looking for a permanent solution to missing teeth? Full arch restoration, sometimes called “All-on-4” or “Teeth-in-a-Day,” allows us to place four or more implants and attach a full set of teeth — all in one appointment.
Walk out with new teeth the same day
Enjoy a stronger bite and more natural function
No need to remove teeth at night
If you’ve lost a tooth and the surrounding bone has shrunk, bone grafting can rebuild the area to support an implant. At Bright Dental, we evaluate your bone structure and recommend grafting when necessary to ensure implant success.
We use 3D digital imaging (CBCT scans) to plan each implant precisely. This technology ensures that implants are placed in the safest and most effective position, protecting nerves, sinuses, and surrounding teeth. Custom surgical guides made from these scans help achieve more predictable, lasting results.
If you're missing one or more teeth and want a long-term, natural solution, dental implants may be the perfect fit. Call Ventura Bright Dental today or reserve your appointment online to schedule a consultation and take the first step toward restoring your smile with confidence.
Post-Operative Care Instructions for Dental Implants
Bright Dental – Ventura, CA
Proper care after dental implant surgery is essential for healing and long-term success. Please follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery.
Some mild bleeding is normal after implant placement. To control it:
Place a folded piece of gauze directly over the surgical site
Bite down with firm pressure for 30 to 45 minutes
Replace the gauze and repeat as needed
If bleeding persists or seems excessive, contact our office for guidance.
Swelling is a common response and may peak around the third day after surgery.
Use an ice pack on the side of the face where surgery was performed
Apply in 15-minute intervals during the first 24–48 hours
Sleep with your head elevated to minimize swelling in the cheeks
Swelling should gradually decrease after the third day.
Many patients report that dental implant surgery is less painful than a tooth extraction. To manage discomfort:
Take Ibuprofen (Motrin) as prescribed, beginning immediately after surgery
Ibuprofen helps reduce both pain and swelling
You may also take prescribed narcotic medication if needed — it can be taken along with Ibuprofen or Tylenol
Important:
Avoid driving or operating machinery while taking narcotic medication. Side effects may include drowsiness, nausea, constipation, or dizziness.
Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and support healing
Stick to soft foods for the first few days, such as:
Mashed potatoes, pasta, eggs, yogurt, soup, smoothies, or ice cream
Avoid hot foods and beverages on the day of surgery
Gradually return to your normal diet as comfort allows
Resume brushing 24 hours after surgery
Be gentle around the surgical site and avoid disturbing stitches
If sutures are dissolvable, they will fall out on their own
Note:
You may notice a small metal post (called an abutment) at the implant site. Once healed, this should be brushed like a normal tooth to prevent plaque buildup and maintain implant health.
Our team at Bright Dental in Ventura is here to support you through every step of the healing process. If you experience unusual pain, swelling, or other symptoms, don’t hesitate to contact us.

A denture is a prosthesis that replaces teeth. Dentures are the least invasive way of replacing missing teeth/teeth. It may replace some of your teeth (partial denture) or all of your teeth (full denture). Dentures are removable which enables you to clean them. It is the most simple and cost-effective way to replace teeth. Dentures do have limitations in that they are not rigidly fixed and tend to have some degree of movement.
Partial dentures replace some of your teeth and rely on your remaining teeth to retain the prosthesis. They are individually designed to the parameters of your mouth. The base can be made of either plastic (acrylic) or metal (Cobalt Chrome) and uses clasps to engage the remaining teeth which anchor the denture. The teeth are made of plastic and matched the color of your existing teeth.
Ventura Dental Center works closely with one of the top Dental Laboratories in the U.S. to ensure that the final denture is fitting comfortably and is aesthetically pleasing. Our close relationship with the laboratory also ensures that any denture breakage can be repaired promptly.
Implant-retained dentures, also known as overdentures are a popular alternative to conventional dentures. Implant-retained dentures are held in position by dental implants and since they are secured by the implants, the dentures' functions are better and more stable than conventional dentures.
If you would like any more information about dentures or just want to talk to a dentist about this procedure, please call us today or reserve your appointment online.
Tooth removal can be a distressing and anxious time, and if possible, we’ll always try and save your tooth. But if removal is necessary, we do everything possible to make it as comfortable and pain free for you as possible.
Tooth removal is most commonly required when one of your teeth has been damaged beyond practical repair.
Some of the most common reasons for extractions are:
Severe tooth decay or infection often makes it impossible or too costly to repair the tooth
Advanced gum disease
A tooth if is blocking other teeth from coming through
Wisdom teeth are often extracted either before or after their eruption due to pain or hygiene concern
During orthodontic work to create more room for the teeth that are being moved into place
What you should expect
We numb the area to minimize discomfort. During the extraction, you’ll feel the pressure, but you won’t feel any pain. Typically we will remove your tooth within a very short time.
We will provide gauze for firm pressure on the extraction site, which will control bleeding. A small amount of bleeding for the next day or so is normal, and the dentist may ask you to bite on a damp tea bag for 30 min to help the clotting. We will provide you with post-procedure instructions to follow.
If you would like any more information about extractions or just want to talk to a dentist about this procedure, please call us today or reserve your appointment online.
Ventura Dental Center is committed to strengthening your teeth with durable and natural-looking restorations. Your smile should be a picture of your health.
At Ventura Dental Center, we only use white fillings composed of high-strength optimum quality composite restorations that give you a natural smile. Tooth-colored restoration is completely safe for your health, and aesthetically appealing at the same time.
Benefits of White Fillings:
Tooth function restored
Natural-looking restoration – Composite material can be adjusted to match the natural tooth color
Tooth protected from further damage or decay
Completely safe – no mercury
Here is an explanation of how white fillings work:
This is a safe procedure that requires the removal of any decay from your tooth, and taking out the metal or amalgam fillings if you are having them replaced.
The new filling is made from a very hard tooth-colored substance and will withstand the forces in your mouth when you bite and chew over a long period of time.
The procedure is completed in one visit and the fillings will not be visible when you smile.
If you would like any more information about white fillings or just want to talk to a dentist about this procedure, please call us today or reserve your appointment online.
A crown is a ceramic restoration that is placed over a tooth that is at high risk for damage such as a deeply decayed tooth, a fractured or deep cracked tooth, a weakened tooth, a tooth with a large filling with a cavity, and broken teeth. Crowns and bridges are fixed restorations and are held in place by dental adhesive. They look like real teeth so it is difficult for others to distinguish the restorations.
Bridges are used to replace missing or lost teeth. A bridge uses multiple crowns connected together in order to replace a missing tooth. The bridge includes two crowns on either side of the missing tooth.
Your tooth is initially prepared for your crown; this will involve removing most of the outer surface and leaving a solid inner core. The amount of tooth removed will be the same as the thickness of the crown.
We will then take a mold of the prepared tooth, one of the opposing jaw, and usually another to mark the way you bite.
At Ventura Dental Center we partner with dental laboratories specializing in high-quality, cosmetic dentistry cases and they use the finest ceramic material for your crowns and bridges.
